I am a small Shih Tzu - a "lion dog" from China. My ancestors were bred specifically to be companions in the Imperial Palace at Peking (Beijing). Although I am classified as "Chinese" my actual origins come from Tibet, where the dominant religion is Buddhism and the Dali Lama is the reincarnation of Buddha (Bodhisattva). My Tibetan ancestors were considered sacred. They lived in the temples and were also house pets. They loved the families they lived with. The Tibetan Lamas wanted my ancestors to look as much likes lions as possible. I think it had something to do with some of their spiritual teachings. My Shih Tzus relatives were exported to China about 87 A. D. as gifts to the Emperor. (See Audrey Dadds, The Shih Tzu (New York: Howell Book House, 1974), pp. 18, 19). But I digress. I came to live with my family June, 1998 where I have been a constant companion. I was born in Porterville, CA in 1993 and have lived in Bakersfield and Souix City, Iowa before coming to Fremont, CA. |

I enjoy my new home. My new parents love me very much and I enjoy them very much too. My Mom lets me stay on the bed with her all the time. She has to spend a lot of time in the bed because she has an injury that makes her body hurt a lot. I sure wish she could be made to feel better. Of course I always try to turn around three times before I lay down, that's what dogs do you know. Mom is a musician and before her accident she used to give concerts. I sure wish I could have been with her then, 'cause she sure sings good now and I have heard that she did even better before. She even made records and tapes. I like it when the children come for music lessons. I like to sit and listen to them, and I don't even make a sound. I'm a very good doggy. And
then there is Dad. I like him too because he takes me on my walks
almost every day. I like to go on my walks because that's when
I get to check my "pee-mail" from all my friends.
Sometimes Mom takes me for a walk too, but she has to use her scooter.
She also likes to take Matt for rides.
I think Dad is a preacher, because he goes to the Church all the time. I like to go to the church too, especially when the Mission Hills Christian School is in session because I just love all the children. The kids love to see me come to school too and so does the teachers! They have a wonderful school. I think that they made me the mascot. If you would like to attend the school you can e-mail my Dad, or the principle, Mrs. Rosano. Mrs. Rosano has two Shih Tzus: Wookie and Chubaka. I don't know if I like them yet, they are very noisy. The School is a nice safe place to be and the kids are learning so much. I wish I could be a student there! I would like to be in Mrs. Rosano's class, she is a great teacher. Several years ago she received the Zappara Award for Excellence in Teaching. I'm sure glad she and her family came to Fremont! Dad likes to help keep religious freedom for everyone.
He is web master for FreedomsRing.com.
He has a lot of neat stuff there about religious liberty.
